Sheriff Sales

The Sheriff, as outlined in Wisconsin Statute, sells mortgaged property that has been foreclosed. Sheriff Sales are normally conducted in the lobby of the local Sheriff’s department.

Successful bidders are required to have 10% of their bid in cash, money order or certified check at the time of the sale. The balance is due at the time of confirmation hearing. Successful bidder is also responsible for researching all legal liens, title, real estate transfer fees, encumbrances and unpaid real estate taxes. Properties cannot be inspected prior to the sale. The prospective purchaser buys the property, more or less, “as is”. Anyone else can then bid on the property. The property goes to the highest bidder.
